About us

Parabottle was launched in response to the devastating Haiti earthquake in 2010. The country’s arterial road networks, airstrips and ports were so badly damaged that large areas of the country were completely cut off.

For a staggering eight days, thousands of people had no access to clean water, food and basic First Aid.

Many thousands lost their lives in the earthquake but many thousands more died from dehydration, starvation and disease as a result of basic aid supplies being delayed.

Motivated by the scale of human suffering involved Parabottle founder Nick Sprague realised a new emergency aid initiative was needed to overcome the complex and time-sensitive task of providing emergency aid after a disaster.

What is a Parabottle?

  • A personal emergency survival pod containing safe drinking water, food a foil blanket and matches.
  • Lightweight and fitted with an individual parachute, allowing thousands to be safely dropped from the air.
  • Providing personal life saving supplies soon after a disaster, before the arrival of comprehensive aid.
